DONALD C. KNEZOVIC, Managing Director of De Novo Perspectives, is an executive with more than 40 years of operations, general management and Board experience in a wide variety of businesses and a broad range of industries.

Don’s experience includes domestic and international operations, acquisitions, divestitures and asset dispositions, operational and financial restructuring and Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. He is skilled at streamlining management processes to generate rapid improvement in operating and financial performance.

Don is an expert in manufacturing and supply chain operations with experience that includes single and multi-divisional companies in industries such as consumer and industrial products, manufacturing, distribution, multi-store retail merchandising, store operations, transportation, distribution, construction, printing, publishing and various service industries.

Serving as CEO of a plastic injection molding manufacturer with four manufacturing locations in the US and Mexico, Don executed an organizational and operational restructuring involving plant consolidations and customer and product line diversification that enabled, the successful completion of a financial restructuring of the highly leveraged company and a change of control.

As COO of a leading manufacturer of transaction printers and electronic card readers for the retail industry with facilities throughout the U.S., France and Mexico Don lead a turnaround involving facilities rationalization and a major outsourcing initiative in advance of a pre-arranged Chapter 11 proceeding and sale of the company.

Don served as COO of the Lighting and Audio Division of the world’s largest international supplier of entertainment technology in lighting, audio and scenery providing support at live events including Broadway performances, sports, television and film, concerts, trade shows and theme parks.  Don implemented major changes in cash management practices, structured consistent pricing protocols and practices, improved supplier relationships and instituted well defined and disciplined capital expenditure evaluation processes.

Don’s other key accomplishments, include:

  • Serving as Vice President of Operations for a $400 million manufacturer of overhead cranes with manufacturing and sales locations throughout North America. In less than six months, Don reduced the company’s past due backlog by more than 90 percent, consolidated manufacturing and distribution facilities, instituted vendor partnering and rebate programs, and implemented significant engineering, manufacturing and administrative cost reduction and profit improvement programs, resulting in a substantial improvement in operating performance.
  •  As Interim Vice President of Operations for a family-owned $120 million international manufacturer and marketer of personal care products, Don helped the company turn three years of operating losses of $4 million annually into an operating profit of $9 million in less than one year. Approximately $20 million of cash was generated through the combination of profitability turnaround and improved working capital management which facilitate a successful refinancing of the company’s debt.  Subsequent to the dramatic performance improvement, the company was sold to a leading European multi-national consumer and personal care products company.

Previously, Don served as Vice President of Borden, Inc.’s Industrial Products and of the Candy Products Divisions.  Prior to that, he worked in Deloitte & Touche’s consulting group for 8 years.  His early business experience was with General Motors as an engineer, tool designer and manufacturing supervisor.

Education

Don received a BS in Industrial Engineering from Kettering University (then GMI Engineering and Management Institute) and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh.
